Zero Tolerance Gate Control System
(ZTGCS)

An AI-Driven Safety & Security Solution for Industries

About

ZTGCS is an AI/ML and Computer-Vision Technology based Human and Vehicle Entry Control System for Industrial Gates where Safety and Security are of utmost importance.
It applies advanced algorithms of Face Recognition, Vehicle Number Plate Recognition and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Detection on CCTV Camera feeds, and enables Gate Access to authorized Persons and Vehicles based on Customizable Parameters.

Implemented at HPCL - A Fortune 500 Company

Zero Tolerance Gate Control System has been successfully implemented and commissioned at HPCL's Mangalore plant - the biggest LPG Terminal in Asia.

Features, Use Cases

Data Enrolments & Issuing of ID Cards

In order to control gate access in an effective manner, up-to-date user and vehicle data are maintained in the software. Detailed data and documents of following entities are captured in the software, and RFID based ID Cards (where applicable) are printed and issued after thorough approval process.
  • Contractors and POs
  • Contract Workmen (Temporary and Permanent)
  • Officers and Workmen
  • Visitors
  • Vehicles and Trucks
  • Transporters
  • Truck Drivers and Helpers
  • Gate Entry Flow

  • A person entering the premise, stands in front of the AI camera for Face Recognition. If recognized, display monitor shows details about the person.
  • Security person allows the person inside if display shows green/authorized, and AI system enables gate access for the person using his/her RFID based ID card.
  • If display shows unauthorized due to safety briefing training expiry, security person guides the person towards safety briefing training room.
  • If the person is not identified by the AI system, security person guides the person towards the pass section for new registration or visitor pass.
  • Gate Entry Flow - Restricted Area

  • One must be authorized to enter a restricted or licensed area. The person also must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the safety purpose.
  • The person willing to enter the gate stands in front of the AI Camera for Face Recognition and PPE Detection.
  • If recognized, display monitor shows details about the person and whether authorized to enter the area.
  • AI system also checks whether the person has worn PPE kit (Helmet and Safety Shoe) and displays the status on the screen.
  • If authorized and PPE is found valid, the system allows the person to open the gate using his/her RFID ID card.
  • Safety Briefing Training with AI-based Monitoring

  • Everyone may require to undergo safety briefing training at defined intervals, without which the gate access will get blocked by the software.
  • Security person decides the training batch size and guides the person(s) to the safety briefing training room.
  • Person stands for a second facing the AI camera before taking a seat. The AI camera identifies and welcomes the person.
  • Once all are seated, the security person presses the button on the screen to start the safety briefing training video.
  • During the display of safety briefing video, the AI camera keeps count of people, tracks faces and monitors their attentions.
  • Once the video is completed, the software updates the ‘safety briefing’ training status of the trainees, and ensbles gate access if requirements are met.
  • Vehicle's Gate Entry Flow

  • Vehicle number is read with AI camera and based on previously fed data in the system, it is either allowed to enter the premise or held for authorization.
  • Display monitor shows Green if vehicle is authorized and Red if not authorized. For authorized vehicle, software sends signal to open the boom barrier.
  • If a vehicle is a tanker and required to park in the parking area before entering plant's restricted area, it is automatically allocated a Parking Slot.
  • Display shows Total Vacant Parking Slots, and keeps them updated based on allocations. It also shows graphically where tankers are allocated with parking slots. By clicking on a slot, the truck details can be viewed.
  • Tanker's Gate Entry Flow to Restricted Area

  • When tanker reaches the gate, it stops at the marking.
  • AI Camera identifies the truck number plate and shows the details on the screen.
  • Truck driver and helper come down from the truck and stand on marked area where camera is installed for Face Recognition and PPE detection.
  • AI camera identifies Faces and PPEs (helmet and safety shoes), and relevant results are displayed on the screen.
  • AI system matches Faces against the truck or transporter as per the record. If a match, the driver and cleaner details get displayed on the screen with green status.
  • The security person does physical checking of the truck when it’s green, and acknowledges on the screen by pressing button.
  • Once acknowledged, the software sends signal to open the boom barrier.
